CISSP Milestone Underscores Shift4’s Commitment to Merchant Security

LAS VEGAS, April 29, 2015

Shift4 Corporation, provider of DOLLARS ON THE NET®, the world’s largest independent payment gateway, demonstrates its continued commitment to providing ironclad card data security for merchants of all types, with 10 employees earning one of the IT industry’s most respected information-systems security credentials.

These 10 members of the Shift4 family have passed the required examinations to earn their Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP®) credential, issued by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, commonly known as (ISC).

“Required by some of the world’s most security-conscious organizations, the CISSP is considered the gold-standard credential that assures information security leaders possess the breadth of knowledge, skills, and experience required to credibly build and manage the security posture of an organization,” (ISC)2 explains.

Shift4 congratulates 10 employees who join Stephen Ames – Senior Director, Security Compliance – as full-fledged CISSPs:

  • Chris Mech – Director of Data Center Security Operations
  • Mark Dunaisky – Director, Project Management
  • Jeff Baran – Network Administrator I
  • Dan Hoolmaa – Director of Information Technology
  • Aaron Avila – Network Solutions Architect
  • Cameron Marshall – Software Release Manager
  • Mike Baker – System Solutions Engineer I
  • Robert Sheppard – System Solutions Engineer I
  • Ryan Parker – Systems Administrator I
  • Mat Martz – Technical Relationship Manager

Additional employees are currently studying for the test and are on their way to joining Shift4’s growing ranks of CISSPs in the coming months.

“For a company of our size to have this many CISSPs is unprecedented,” said Shift4 CEO Dave Oder. “Many of the level-one merchants we work with have thousands of employees and only one or two with this level of certification. To have close to 10 percent of our technical staff named as CISSPs is fantastic, and I am incredibly proud of these guys for what they’ve accomplished.”

The CISSP certification requires five-plus years of related work experience. These newly minted CISSPs were required to demonstrate mastery of 10 security domains: access control; telecommunications and network security; information security governance and risk management; software development security; cryptography; security architecture and design; operations security; business continuity and disaster recovery planning; legal, regulations, investigations and compliance; and physical (environmental) security.

“The CISSP certification is typically reserved for senior IT and InfoSec leadership, but to have CISSPs ranging from Director-level down to our Systems Administrators – and even a few on our development and project management teams – is further illustration of Shift4’s company-wide dedication to the highest levels of security and professionalism,” said Oder.
