Introducing E-Payment Gateway

Los Angeles, April 3, 2000 — Shift4 Corporation will unveil their latest e-payment innovation, DOLLARS ON THE NET, at Spring Internet World 2000, being held in Los Angeles (April 3-7). Internet World is the industry’s largest trade event dedicated to e-business and Internet technology, providing a perfect venue for attendees to get a first- hand look this new technology. Shift4 representatives will be demonstrating DOLLARS ON THE NET in exposition booth #5031.

Powered by Shift4’s popular $$$ IN THE BANK® electronic payment platform, DOLLARS ON THE NET is an e-payment gateway and application service that allows merchants operating physical and/or e-commerce points of sale to gain real-time payment authorizations via the Internet. Supported payment types include credit, debit, purchase and private label cards, plus electronic check processing. Application integration, communications and transaction security are handled by Shift’s NetAPI™ component, which are part their free DOLLARS ON THE NET Software Developer’s Kit (SDK).

Integration

NetAPI allows the delivery of real-time e-payment authorizations to physical POS systems, call center and/or web-based e-commerce applications by using the Internet as an inexpensive, high-speed connection to the DOLLARS ON THE NET payment server.

As an optional means of obtaining authorizations, the DOLLARS ON THE NET Suite offers a browser-based virtual terminal called NetCharge™. NetCharge functions as a virtual credit card terminal running within a web browser. This application service allows payment information to be keyed directly into a secure web page running within a browser, delivering real-time authorizations over the Internet. NetCharge pages are served and authorizations gained via the DOLLARS ON THE NET ASP Server/Payment Gateway, located at Shift4’s corporate data center.

The DOLLARS ON THE NET solution is enhanced by a browser-based transaction management application service called NetAudit™. NetAudit provides accounting personnel with batch auditing and management capabilities, allowing them to run reports, edit/delete errors, add transactions and settle batches. NetAudit allows remote sites to run end-of-day transaction reports and audit batches for accuracy via their web-browsers. A centralized corporate accounting staff can access transaction history archives as needed to respond to charge back inquiries, run history reports and search for individual transactions. By consolidating dispersed transaction data at a single point, enterprises are empowered to manage their e-payment receivables more efficiently. All without having to load or configure software or hardware at individual locations.

Security

Packet security for transmissions via NetAPI-enabled applications is provided by SSL3 and Shift4’s proprietary encryption technology (DUKPT w/ MTE or Derived Unique Key Per Transaction with Moving Target Encryption). This patent pending technology provides a level of security surpassing that of the nation’s banking ATM networks.

Large merchant enterprises and ISPs are choosing to host Shift4’s e-payment solution on-site. This implementation, called NetEnterprise™, empowers organizations by transforming them into full functioning Application Service Providers.

Architecture

The DOLLARS ON THE NET/NetEnterprise Payment Gateway and ASP run on the Microsoft Windows NT operating platform. NetCharge and NetAudit pages are served by Microsoft’s Internet Information Server v.4 with Microsoft SQL Server v.7 providing the database platform. Allaire’s ColdFusion provides a server-side interface between the database and web server. Browser support includes MS Internet Explorer 4.01 and Netscape Navigator 4.07.

DOLLARS ON THE NET/NetEnterprise will be marketed by Shift4’s national sales force and their rapidly expanding reseller channel, which consists of Merchant Service Providers, Payment Processing Companies, Internet Service Providers and E-Commerce Application Developers.

“Organizations reselling Shift4’s DOLLARS ON THE NET Gateway/ASP service find that the recurring fees for this service dramatically improve the profitability of their business,” states Mark Mason, Shift4 VP of Sales and Marketing. “Our goal was to develop a total payment solution for diverse enterprises selling concurrently via multiple business channels, i.e., web-sites, physical store sites, catalog order call centers, etc. Shift4 fills that niche as no other company has been able to do,” Mr. Mason adds.

“Our DOLLARS ON THE NET/NetEnterprise solution is truly an industry first. Our development team has been, and continues to be, what makes Shift4 a leader in the electronic payment technology business. We’re excited about working with forward thinking merchants and resellers who share our vision of the burgeoning ASP market,” notes J. David Oder, President/CEO of Shift4.
