Shift4 Sponsors HFTP PCI Compliance Boot Camp and PCI Compliance Roundtable Update at HITEC 2011

LAS VEGAS (Marketwire) Friday, June 17, 2011 — Shift4 Corporation is pleased to announce its paid sponsorship and support of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals’ (HFTP) PCI Compliance Boot Camp and PCI Compliance Roundtable Update held in conjunction with this year’s HITEC show.

These events, to be held at the Austin Convention Center on Monday, June 20, 2011, are designed to help merchants understand PCI requirements and to equip them with the best practices to comply with those requirements.

“The road to compliance can be a strenuous one, but it’s vital for any merchant that wants to accept credit card transactions,” said Shift4 CEO Dave Oder. “Fortunately, there are solutions available to merchants – including our own TrueTokenization® – that can drastically reduce the burdens of PCI compliance.”

Since introducing tokenization to the industry in 2005, Shift4’s solution has helped tens of thousands of merchants simplify PCI compliance.

“It’s great to see our tokenization technology continue to gain steam in the industry,” said JD Oder, Shift4’s CTO. “However, as it does, we’re also seeing a number of solutions claiming to be tokenization that are little more than encryption – and therefore do not offer nearly the same level of PCI scope reduction.”

“Merchants really have to watch out for the solutions that masquerade as PCI-simplifying technologies that, in fact, do not limit their scope or protect their customers’ data. These bastardized TINO or ‘tokenization-in-name-only’ solutions simply do not offer the security and simplicity that tokenization is capable of providing.”

Shift4 anticipates HFTP’s PCI sessions will be a forum for the Hospitality industry to discuss compliance concerns and also a platform from which technology vendors and Hospitality professionals can stand together to educate others that may be in search of a solution.

The PCI Compliance Boot Camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. (CDT) and the PCI Compliance Roundtable Update from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the latter being open to the public (no HITEC badges required). Bob Lowe, Shift4’s Vice President of Business Development, will represent Shift4 at both events. More information on these events can be found by visiting www.hftp.org.
