Las Vegas (May 3, 2007) The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County, Penn., has selected secure transaction technology from Shift4 Corporation as it develops the first fully-integrated racing and gaming complex in Western Pennsylvania. Shift4’s DOLLARS ON THE NET® web-based payment gateway and its Secure Driver for MICROS 9700 point-of-sale devices deliver enhanced security for credit card transactions.
Shift4 technology makes payments more secure by offering the only driver that can claim no cardholder information is ever stored in the POS application, database or server. Shift4?s certified MICROS 9700 driver uses Tokenization technology (invented by Shift4), to replace the credit card number with a randomly generated unique ID. In the event of breach, Tokens are of no commercial value and no loss of actual cardholder data would occur. Tokenization hides cardholder data from the POS application and works on top of any existing security built into the POS.
“We feel that by installing Shift4’s Secure Driver with our new, compliant MICROS 9700 system we are achieving the highest level of security possible. We are doing this to protect our customers as well as our business,” said Jay Boyd, Director of Marketing, The Meadows Racetrack and Casino.
According to Victor Chavez, Shift4’s Business Development Manager, Food and Beverage, “Merchants are no longer looking for just PCI compliance, they want real data security. With our certified driver installed on their new, compliant MICROS system, the driver will make the solution even more secure by removing cardholder data.”
