LAS VEGAS — Thursday, January 31, 2013 — Wintersteiger, a global leader in the snow sports industry, and Shift4 Corporation, the world’s largest independent payment gateway, today announce a new partnership that pairs the simplicity and security of Shift4’s DOLLARS ON THE NET® payment gateway with the modular flexibility and speed of Wintersteiger’s Easyrent software solution.
“Wintersteiger approached us with a specific request – they needed to keep sensitive cardholder data out of their merchants’ systems while maintaining their ability to process multiple transactions,” said Shift4 partner manager Vladimir Tchakalsky. “Fortunately, we had proven solutions already in play that do exactly what they need.”
With DOLLARS ON THE NET now integrated to Easyrent, Shift4’s TrueTokenization® technology will meet Wintersteiger’s request by allowing Easyrent users to process credit card transactions without storing any cardholder data. Instead, the merchant will store only a TrueToken® – a unique, 16-digit alphanumeric value that references the original data. The provocative data will be held in Shift4’s secure, PCI-compliant data centers.
Additionally, Easyrent merchants will have the ability to implement Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) to further reduce their contact with card data. P2PE uses specialized credit card readers to encrypt card data before it enters the merchant’s system.
“The beauty of this solution is that Easyrent POS users can now process multiple payments to a single payment card without incurring the risks associated with storing sensitive cardholder data,” said Wintersteiger’s Easyrent Software Sales Coordinator Cecil Cadwell. “This allows our merchants to charge for extended rentals or for equipment that is damaged or never returned without taking on the added PCI-compliance requirements that come with storing card data.”
Wintersteiger plans to roll this integration out to their U.S. customers over the next few months. They are also currently working with Shift4 to add EMV functionality for their Canadian merchants and will add those locations shortly thereafter.
